In His Light

I wanted to pre-write this page so that it would be correct, but I couldn't.  When I think of the ultimate sacrife I get cold chills.

Think about it, pick one of your children or another loved one and know that you are sending them to slaughter, no not even that torture slaughter is too nice of a word.  Really think about this, don't just let it go as a passing thought.  Imagine from the time you know them that you know that they are going to be ridiculed, made fun of, tortured beyond what we can humanly conceive, and left to die while being humiliated and laughed at.  Imagine the pain as the whip hits His skin.   Imagine the humiliation as He is forced up the hill.  Imagine watching as they put the first nail in His hand.  The second.  The third.  Imagine the anguish as they raise Him on the cross.  The first agonizing pain as His body pulls against the nails.  Imagine the pain.  Feel the pain.  Oh wait we don't have to.  Jesus did that for us.  We would not send a loved one into this.  God did!!  For you, for me, for the millions on the earth.  Because God knew from experience that we humans could not do it on our own.  Look at our track record.  In the Bible you will find many places that we as humans failed God, many!!  The first, when Adam and Eve "ate" from the tree.  God gave us so many chances and we failed to listen.  So He gave us His Son.  To bear our shame, to bear our pain, and to bear our sins.  If you are a Christian you know the anguish you feel when you commit a sin.  Think of the anguish that Jesus must have felt on that day as he took the sins of the world on Himself.  THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.  I couldn't do it.  You couldn't do it.  But God did.  God said Here take my Son, ridicule Him, laugh at Him, humilate Him, torture Him, kill Him.  But no matter what you do to Him, I will still allow Him to be your Savior, your gateway into Heaven, I will allow Him to bear all your sins, and I will allow you to be cleansed through His blood.  

Now most of us know the finish, but some don't.  Jesus was ressurected ( brought back to life) and lived again on this earth for a short time, then God took Him home to heaven.  But He still died once, a horrible, painful death.  FOR US.  Torture beyond what we can comprehend.  Just think about it.  Next time you feel the urge to say "why me?", just think about it.

If you haven't seen "The Passion of The Christ" directed by Mel Gibson, I highly recommend it.  When interviewed about this movie Mr. Gibson was asked why he wanted to write this story and his reply "I didn't write it, I didn't produce it, I didn't direct it.  I only helped to put it on film.  God directed, God produced.  I am only a tool for Him to use"

Thank God everyday for making the ultimate sacrifice for us.  His one and only Son.
